SDGS Research Collection
The San Diego Genealogical Society donated its extensive collection to the San Diego Public Library in 2013.
The Society is currently working with the SDPL to staff the library with volunteers who will assist patrons using the genealogy collection.
The SDGS society's genealogical research collection consisted of more than 10,000 titles. Many are multi-volume sets (for example, the 130 volume War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records Union and Confederate Armies). The library held more than 1,000 periodical titles. There were significant holdings of many major genealogical periodicals (for example, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register in bound volumes from 1923 to the present, as well as Volumes 1 (1847) through 148 (1994) on CD with a complete index). The collection also contained quite a number of 'how to' books and periodicals to help expand and improve your research skills and results. Access the former SDGS library catalog through this website.
Take advantage of the substantial resources of the SDPL to further your genealogical discovery.
